Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the News.ai mobile app and website (together, the “Service”), provided by ALTERSIDE INTERACTIVE PRIVATE LIMITED (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who can use News.ai

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you.

2. Accounts and guest sessions

You can use the Service as a guest or create an account with an email address and password. Keep your password confidential and tell us if you think your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time in the App (Profile → Delete Account) or on our account deletion page.

3. What the Service is — and isn't

News.ai provides short, AI-generated summaries of publicly reported news, AI fact-check scores, and links to the original publishers. The Service is for general information only.

AI can make mistakes. Summaries, key points and fact-check scores are generated automatically from the sources we found and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. They are not professional, legal, medical, financial or other advice. Always check the original sources before relying on anything important.

4. Third-party content and links

News stories, images and source links come from third-party publishers. Their content belongs to them and is subject to their own terms and copyright. We are not responsible for third-party websites, and a link is not an endorsement. Please read our Fair Use & Sources policy to see how we credit and link to publishers.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's rights while using the Service;
  • scrape, copy or systematically download the Service's content, or use it to build a competing product or to train AI models;
  • interfere with or attempt to disrupt the Service, its servers or its security;
  • attempt to access accounts, data or systems you are not authorised to access;
  • use the Service to harass others or to spread unlawful or harmful content.

6. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, the News.ai name and logo, and our original summaries and compilation, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own non-commercial use in line with these Terms. Third-party names, logos and content belong to their owners.

7. Feedback

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

8. Publisher requests

If you are a publisher or rights holder and want a story, image or source removed or corrected, email hello@alterside.io. See the Fair Use & Sources policy for what to include.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop providing the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any content is accurate or complete.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the previous 12 months (which is zero for the free Service) and INR 1,000. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims and costs arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may change the Service or these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, subject to any mandatory rights you have under the laws of your country.
